UCM Blanks ERAU in Second Round
UC Merced kept its postseason run alive with a 1-0 victory over host Embry-Riddle in the Second Round of the NAIA National Championship in Prescott, Ariz. The Bobcats (11-3-2) advance to the Round of 16 at the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex in Pensacola, Fla. Upon completion of today's Second Round, the seedings for the next round's matchups will be determined. Round of 16 action begins on Monday, Dec. 2. UCM scored in the 19th minute of the contest when Yesenia Tijerina connected with California Pacific Conference Offensive Player of the Year Yareli Hernandez, who converted the pass into the game's lone goal. Bobcat keeper Alicia Lepe saved all four ERAU shots on goal as the defense kept one of the NAIA's top offensive teams in check with just eight shots, four on goal.
