Eagles Soar to 10th Consecutive Title

Embry-Riddle, the only women's golf champion the conference has ever crowned, once again dominated the field at the California Pacific Conference Women's Golf Championship on the Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura, Calif., and coasted to its 10th consecutive Cal Pac title.  The Eagles, ranked No. 12 in the NAIA, opened with a huge lead in the first round and lengthened that lead in each ensuing round to sail to the victory.  Soka finished second in the tournament, followed by Cal Maritime and Benedictine Mesa.  With the victory, ERAU earns the Cal Pac's automatic bid to the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship, which will be held May 14-17 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

The top five finishers make up the All-Cal Pac team and, for the third year in a row, all five are Eagles.  This year's top individual honor goes to Hailey Stevenson, who shook off a shaky start and over the next two days carded two of the six lowest rounds in the tournament to finish 76-72-73—221.  She totaled the most pars over the three rounds (35) and was second in birdies (7).  The tournament's birdie leader with 13 was Maisy Alsen, who had six of those in today's round of 69—the only round in the tournament under par—to close out the event 80-75-69—224.  Kaetlin Halseth (73-81-72—226), Charlotte Giffin (79-76-74—229), and Libby Axen (83-86-73—242, last year's medalist, round out the top five.  Stevenson, Alsen, and Halseth, earned All-Cal Pac honors for the third consecutive season, and Axen, last year's medalist, made the list for the second straight year.
