SEMIFINAL 1

#2 LA SIERRA 70, #3 SIMPSON 58 | Box Score

The Golden Eagles reached their first Cal Pac title game since 2015 with the win over the Red Hawks.  LSU (12-10) led by as many as 16 points in the second half and held off a late charge by SU (14-10) to keep their postseason run alive.  LSU used its zone press and active zone defense take control in the second half, clamping down on the Cal Pac's leading scorer, Anna Marshall, holding her to just five points on 2-of-16 shooting.  The Golden Eagle defense held SU's entire offence in check, limiting the Red Hawks to just 30 percent shooting from the floor.  LSU was led by a stellar performance from Sonia Randall, who registered a double-double with 26 points and 17 rebounds, nine of which came on the offensive end.  The Golden Eagles also got strong outings from Kaydn Mew, who added 16 points, and Amaya Sanchez, who totaled 11 points and seven boards off the bench.  Nikki Thompson and Cerina Nguyen each contributed double-doubles for the Red Hawks.  Thompson finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Nguyen had 10 points and 15 boards.  Zara Dumatol, who made 5-of-9 triples in the first half, finished with 17 points.
