SU, LSU Open Cal Pac Play With Split
Simpson and La Sierra started California Pacific Conference play with a split of a four-game series in Riverside, Calif. After splitting a doubleheader on Sunday, The Golden Eagles won Monday's opener 6-5 with some timely hitting. Trailing 5-1 going into the 5th inning, Danielle Rodriguez and Lidia Flores capped a four-run rally with RBI singles, and Jillian Hernandez drove home the game-winner with a single in the 6th. The Red Hawks rebounded in the second game behind a strong outing from Jacquelyn Lujan in the circle, who threw all seven innings, allowing just six hits and striking out seven in a 4-0 victory.
