Cal Pac Championships Next Monday
The California Pacific Conference Championship meet is only a week away, and three runners posted solid times in tune-up events last week. Soka's Andre Souza continued his steady 8k pace, producing yet another top 10 time for this season. Souza ran to a second-place finish at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, clocking a 24:59 that ranks as the fifth-fastest time this Fall. Souza has produced four of the top six times in 2024, with only UC Merced's Jonathan Chavez besting him with two 24:40 results. Another UCM runner, Sharvin Manjrekar, continued to put up faster times. Manjrekar ran a 25:27—the seventh-best this season—to finish 16th in the Open Division of the Bronco Invitational. A third Bobcat, Elizette Ysais, showed she is ready for next week's 6k finale by running a 23:11 at the Bronco Invitational, the second-best mark this season and eclipsing her previous best time by two seconds.
