Cal Pac Trio Excels at National Championship
Three runners from the California Pacific Conference stepped up on the national stage and recorded top 10 finishes in their respective races at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Marion, Ind. Embry-Riddle freshman Zoe Tizard, the 2024 conference Female Athlete of the Year, ran a season-best 11:06.17 to finish in 8th place in the 3,000m Steeplechase; UC Merced senior Jonathan Chavez, the Male Athlete of the Year, crossed in 9th place in the Men's 1,500m with a time of 3:52.56, his second fastest time this year and his fifth sub 3:55.1 time of the season; and ERAU's Demetris Love, Jr., clocked a 14:38.09 in the Men's 5,000m to finish 6th in a tightly-contested final.
Tizard's and Love's performances earned them NAIA All-American honors in their respective events.
