Love Qualifies for Men’s 1,500m Final

On the second day of the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Marion, Ind., California Pacific Conference competitors turned in mixed results.  Embry-Riddle's Demetris Love, Jr., clocked a 14:57.68 in the second heat that put him in tomorrow's final in a fast field of 16 runners.  The race is slated to start at 1:55 p.m. PT.  In the morning's second event on the track, UC Merced's Neil-Matthew Sutherland did not start in his heat for the 110m Hurdles, and out on the field, Park-Gilbert's Sam Olney tried three times but failed to clear the opening height in the High Jump.

Four Cal Pac runners will be on the track for tomorrow's third and final day of the national meet.  ERAU's Zoe Tizard, the conference Female Athlete of the Year, will run in the Women's 3,000m Steeplechase at 10:00 a.m. PT.  Right after her will be the Cal Pac Male Athlete of the Year, UCM's Jonathan Chavez, racing against the NAIA's top 1,500m runners at 11:10 a.m. PT.  The conference's final runner of the day will take off at 12:20 p.m. with Soka's Hope Suka racing in the Men's 400m Hurdles final.
