Cal Pac Competitors Finished at Finals
Only one California Pacific Conference student-athlete was on the field for the second day of the 2023 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind., and Park-Gilbert's Sam Olney's appearance in the high jump was a brief one. Olney, who qualified with a season-best 2.02m jump, failed to clear the opening height of 2.0m in today's competition. UC Merced's Jonathan Chavez, the Cal Pac Male Track & Field Athlete of the Year and conference cross country Runner of the Year, qualified for today's 5000m preliminary, but he was unable to compete due to an injury; Chavez also missed the 1500m race for which he had qualified.
