Cal Pac Runners Improve, Fail to Advance

Three California Pacific Conference student-athletes saw their postseason runs come to a close on the opening day of the 2023 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind.  Embry-Riddle's Tiffany Terry clocked her second-best time this season, 38:46.33, in the 10,000m final, putting her in 27th place in the event.  Three other Cal Pac runners ran heats on Wednesday's schedule, but none of them finished in the top four in their respective heats to advance to Friday's finals.  ERAU's Savannah Ganter ran an 11:40.63 in the 3,000m Steeple, her second-fastest mark this season, while UC Merced's Sharvin Manjrekar crossed in 4:15.89 in the men's 1,500m prelim.  Manjrekar's teammate, Jonathan Chavez—the Cal Pac's Runner of the Year in both cross country and outdoor track & field—did not race even though he had qualified.  Chavez will focus on the 5,000m prelim tomorrow afternoon with the finals on Friday.
