WU Wins Three Out of Four

Westcliff opened the week with a 4-2 non-conference win over Bethesda and kept right on rolling the rest of the week.  The only glitch in the run was a 4-2 loss to Providence Christian in Friday's opening game of a three-game set in Westlake Village, Calif., but the Warriors, now 7-5 and sitting at the top of the California Pacific Conference standings, took the final two games of the series.  PCC's Brendon Demuth and Hunter Brasher combined to outduel five WU pitchers to earn the win and save, respectively.  The final two games saw the Warriors post 11 runs each time and, in the process, set a new program record for single season wins with 25 (and counting).  Five Warriors had two hits in the 11-6 win in the opener, highlighted by home runs off the bats of Patrick Morgan and Micah Wallette.  Morgan's big fly was his 11th of the season—setting a new single season standard.  In the second game, Domingo Gaxiola turned in a strong outing, going 6.2 innings, scattering six hits, and allowing just two earned with eight strikeouts.

La Sierra took two out of three from visiting Simpson last week to put the Golden Eagles (4-3) and the Red Hawks (5-4) into a virtual tie for second place in the Cal Pac standings, just a half game off the pace set by Westcliff.
