USK Eliminated in NAIA Quarterfinals
Saint Katherine, the California Pacific Conference co-champion and runner up at the NAIA Western Grouping Qualifying tournament, made its first appearance in the NAIA Beach Volleyball Invitational at Greeneville Beach Volleyball Complex in Greeneville, Tenn. But after losing all three matches in Pool B action, the #6 seed Firebirds fell to the #4 Firestorm, 3-2, in Friday afternoon's Quarterfinals to close out their season with a 14-13 record. The only pair to earn a win against ACU was Camille Harvey and Bailey Combs at 3s.
In the Firebirds' final Pool B match Friday morning, #7 seed Vanguard pulled off a narrow 3-2 victory. USK won the 1s matchup as Alexcis Morris and Anne Mayfield, the Cal Pac Pair of the Year, took a 2-1 decision, and Emily Wilson and Jadyn Starling swept their two sets at the 5s.
USK, one of three teams in the championship field for the first time, closes out the season with a 14-13 record.
