Pacific Union sweeps Central Christian
MATCH 5:
Pacific Union's frontline was the star of the show as they defeated Central Christian in straight sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-21) in Match 5 of the Cal Pac Seeding Jamboree.
The Pioneers' front combined for 44 kills that killed any momentum that the Tigers tried to generate. Junior outside hitter Julian Clarke's 11 kills led Pacific Union's attack. He also recorded a service ace and one dig. Middle blockers Nate Tejada and Tristen Miller each added 10 kills. Miller also led the Pioneers in digs with 14 digs. Senior setter JV Cruzada held down the back with 25 assists and 5 digs.
Outside hitter Stephen Barnes led Central Christian with 8 kills. He also contributed 7 digs and a service ace earning him a team leading 9.5 points. Defensive specialist Jesse Espinoza had 9 assists, 2 aces and 7 digs.
Pacific Union will face Simpson in Match 7 starting at 2:00pm.
