Simpson Prevails Over WWU In Tight Match

MATCH 4:

 

In a match where both teams traded leads, Simpson came out on top defeating Walla Walla (WA) 3-1 (25-19, 24-26, 25-19, 25-16) in the final match of the day in the Cal Pac Seeding Jamboree.

In a highly competitive match, Simpson won the first set 25-19 to take a 1-0 lead. Not deterred, Walla Walla (WA) stormed back to take an early 11-6 lead. Simpson clawed to tie the match at 24-24, but Walla Walla produced two defensive plays to close the set 26-24.

The third set was the same with both teams not willing to give an inch to the other. The Wolves held a 17-16 third set lead before Simpson closed out the set on a 9-2 run. In the 4th set, with the game tied at 14-14, the Red Hawks went on a 6-1 run to take a commanding 20-15 lead. After a time out by Walla Walla, Simpson continued their momentum outscoring the Wolves 5-1.

Simpson's Dehryn Brown and Diego Chavez each recorded 13 kills. Brown also had 5 aces and 12 digs. Chavez had 2 assists and 2 digs. Tyce Nakamura put on a defensive clinic with 24 assists and 6 digs.

Walla Walla's Joaquin Juarez led both teams in kills with 18. He also had 8 digs and 1 assist scoring 20.5 points. Jonathan Tobar had 25 assists and 12 digs in the Wolves' cause.

#7 Westcliff matches up with Walla Walla in Match 6 tomorrow, April 16, 2026 at 11:30 am. Simpson plays Pacific Union tomorrow, April 16, 2026  at 2:00pm.
