Cal Pac Selects Players of the Week for April 21

The following California Pacific Conference student-athletes have been recognized as the conference Players of the Week for their performances during the period of April 14-20:

BASEBALL

Player of the Week

Tucker Panarisi of Providence Christian provided some offensive punch last week as the Sea Beggars closed out the season with three straight wins.  After splitting two games with La Sierra, PCC took two exhibition games against Southern California Leadership to finish 18-23—the most wins in program history.  Panarisi, an infielder from Santa Clarita, Calif., went 5-for-11 at the plate with two doubles and a home run.  He scored four runs, drove home four, and added a stolen base.

Also nominated:

Amerson Dix (Westcliff)

Dean Samuel (La Sierra)

Pitcher of the Week

Matthew Panzica of Westcliff earned the win in last Tuesday's 9-6 upset of No. 4 Hope International.  The grad student from Vaughn, Ontario, tossed 2.1 innings, surrendering a hit and an earned run but struck out two.  With the game tied 5-5 when he entered with two outs in the bottom of the 7th, the right hander set the Royals down in order in the 8th and gave up a run on a groundout in the final inning.

Also nominated:

Brendon Demuth (Providence Christian)

Nico Masucci (La Sierra)

SOFTBALL

Player of the Week

Alyssa Patlan of Westcliff swung a hot bat the final week of the season, helping the Warriors win four games—extending a season-best win streak to eight games—and close the 2025 campaign with a 21-21 record.  The junior outfielder from Fullerton, Calif., went 6-for-11 at the plate, including a double and a triple, and drove home four runs.  For the season Patlan batted .416 and scored 42 runs in 41 games.

Also nominated:

Alexis Cook (La Sierra)

Kassandra Soria (Simpson)

Pitcher of the Week

Jacquelyn Lujan of Simpson was nearly unhittable last week, posting two wins and clinching the Red Hawks berth in the Continental Athletic Conference Softball Championship.  The sophomore from Newman, Calif., threw a five-inning no-hitter (her second of the season) Thursday in the first of a four-game set with La Sierra, and followed that up with a seven-inning two-hitter on Friday.  Lujan, now 12-7 on the season, totaled 12 innings, allowing two hits, no earned runs, five walks and 15 strike outs.
