AGGRESSIVE PLANS IN PLACE TO BUILD CAL PAC MEMBERSHIP

Nationwide, athletic conferences are changing as institutions seek to reduce travel costs or align sports.  While the California Pacific Conference has not been immune to this disruption, the league's creative efforts will build a stronger conference in the unfolding intercollegiate landscape.

Commissioner Dr. Don Ott says, "We are always sad to see valued conference members leave and we're grateful for their partnership and proud of their accomplishments."  Ott continued, "Our members value the process of bringing in new schools, which aligns with the NAIA's strategic plan. It is my genuine privilege to press into a future with our cornerstone institutions."

The Cal Pac's founding members include Simpson, Pacific Union, and Cal Maritime, and are joined by Providence Christian and Westcliff as the building blocks for the future of the league. Several new institutions are in the NAIA and Cal Pac membership pipeline, with one institution currently on the cusp of approval. The conference is working with the NAIA leadership to fast-track that process for several others.

Dr. Norm Hall President of Simpson University and member of NAIA Council of Presidents asserts with confidence: "The leadership of the Cal Pac schools' are supportive of the plan for regrowth and deeply thankful for and confident in Commissioner Don Ott's work. Over the past 15 year, the league has brought 13 schools to full membership, more than any other conference in NAIA history."

"Sometimes the lump of clay gets reshaped while it's on the potter's wheel, so we'll just do again what we've had success doing before. We will mold this current group into a new dynamic conference while uniquely and deliberately championing the NAIA's core values and strategic plan."
