Cal Pac Selects Players of the Week for Feb. 26

The following California Pacific Conference student-athletes have been recognized as the conference Players of the Week for their performances during the period of Feb. 19-25:

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Antelope Valley guard Jordan Rogers-McAdams guided the Pioneers to two big wins last week, securing the program's second consecutive Cal Pac regular season title.  The senior from Dallas, Tex., averaged 13 points in wins against playoff-bound La Sierra and Embry-Riddle.  In Saturday's pivotal win over ERAU, she finished with 16 points and five rebounds to lead UAV.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Dennis Pomazanov of Embry-Riddle was a huge part of the Eagles' 1-1 week, averaging 20.5 points per game and adding two more double-doubles.  Playing two playoff-bound teams on the road, the junior forward from Pleasant Hill, Calif., tied his season high in rebounds with 17 and added 18 points against La Sierra.  Two days later he followed that up with 23 points and 12 rebounds against Cal Pac champion Antelope Valley.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Attacker of the Week

Dapre Rogers of Benedictine Mesa was an offensive force for the Redhawks last week.  Despite his team dropping its first Cal Pac match since 2021, the senior middle blocker from Tempe, Ariz., compiled a three-match total of 50 kills (4.17 per set), hitting .265, converting eight service aces, and added 15 digs.

Setter of the Week

Jayden Minarcik of Simpson guided his team to a split in its first two conference matches.  In a four-set loss to No. 4 Benedictine Mesa and a sweep of Park-Gilbert, the freshman from Gilbert, Ariz., handed out 94 assists—9.40 per set—and added 16 digs, two kills, two aces, and was in on four blocks.

Defender of the Week

UC Merced's Jared Schnake played a big role in the Bobcats' 2-0 start in league play, which included an upset of No. 4 Benedictine Mesa.  The sophomore from Riverside, Calif., turned in two outstanding performances, including career highs of 16 digs, eight kills, and four service aces in the Bobcats' win over the Redhawks.

BASEBALL

Player of the Week

Benedictine Mesa first baseman Daniel Miranda had a big week at the plate, helping the Redhawks to start the Cal Pac campaign 3-0.  The senior from Yuma, Ariz., hit .526, going 10-for-19 at the plate with a double, three triples, and seven runs batted in.

Pitcher of the Week

Connor Coerper of Benedictine Mesa had a stellar start in his first Cal Pac appearance against Westcliff.  The senior from Hood River, Ore., threw seven innings, surrendering just two hits and a walk while striking out 11 to record the win.

SOFTBALL

Player of the Week

Simpson's Nicolena Holen had a big week at the plate for the Red Hawks.  In two games at the WJU Classic, the sophomore outfielder from Chico, Calif., went 5-for-7 with a triple, two RBI, and two stolen bases.

Pitcher of the Week

Emily Rosas of Westcliff went 1-2 in three starts last week, but she put up some good numbers in her 21 innings of work.  The junior from Orange, Calif., fashioned a 2.67 earned run average, giving up just eight earned runs while walking three and fanning 26.
