Menlo College junior Alex Palomarez recorded his eighth shutout of the 2011 season in the Oaks' California Pacific Conference championship-clinching match and was selected as the California Pacific Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the dates of November 7th through 13th, 2011.
The Fremont, California native had four saves in the Oaks' match against Holy Names University in Oakland on Thursday. As of November 2nd, Palomarez was first in the conference in shutouts (8), second in goals allowed (.83), and fifth in saves per match (4.25).
Menlo now advances to the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship. Their first round match, which is nationally played at host sites, will be in Marietta, Georgia versus Southern Polytechnic State University. The match time is set for 10 am (PST).
