Cal Pac - Mon, Aug. 22, 2011

Pacific Union College gained the approval of the other six Cal Pac member institutions in the 2010-11 academic year as the league's best example of team sportsmanship, Commissioner Don Ott announced at the conference's convention in Vallejo on the campus of California Maritime Academy.

The greatest sign of the mutual respect the Cal Pac institutions have for one another is the amazing fact that every institution received at least one vote in every sport. The balloting is done by a vote of the league's coaches in each sport sponsored by the conference.

California Pacific Conference Commissioner Don Ott said, "Pacific Union College represents all that is right in the Cal Pac, as their student-athletes exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship as they compete with passion. I'm personally inspired when I see the consensus of the conference recognizing and applauding that core value at PUC. Along with speaking highly for the quality of the team members, it certainly reflects the leadership of the administrators and coaches."

This is Pacific Union's first Cal Pac Team Sportsmanship Award since 2007-2008 and is the institution's fifth Team Sportsmanship Award since the award was created after the 1999-2000 season.
