The road to Vancouver, Washington and the 2011 NAIA Cross Country Championships was announced today by the California Pacific Conference and it includes all six of the conferences' schools dancing around the Bay Area and having teams make a couple of trips to Oregon.

 

Three schools will run in eight races this season. The season gets started on September 3rd with defending California Pacific Conference champion Holy Names University traveling to Belmont to take part in the NDNU Invitational. Also on September 3rd, the newest member of the California Pacific Conference, UC Merced will travel to their first meet in intercollegiate competition as they travel to San Francisco to participate in the San Francisco Invitational, hosted by NCAA Division I member University of San Francisco. The California Pacific Conference Preview Meet and Championship Meet will be hosted this season by Pacific Union College; both of those events will be in Angwin.

 

The following are highlights from each of the conference school's schedules for the coming year:

 

- Defending champion Holy Names University will compete in eight races this season and participate in two races hosted by NCAA Division I member schools. The Hawks will race in the Hornet Jamboree hosted by CSU Sacramento and the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara University. They will also participate in the Mills Invitational and the SF State Invitational. Their lone conference race of the season will be the Pacific Union Invitational in Angwin.

 

- Menlo College will run in five races this season. They will run in the Mills Invitational and the SF State Invitational. They will also participate in the Crystal Springs Meet hosted by the College of San Mateo.

 

- Pacific Union College has four races this season. They will host the Pacific Union Invitational and then run in the SF State Invitational as their training for the conference's preview meet and championship.

 

- Simpson University will participate in eight races this season. The Red Hawks will participate in the Humboldt Invitational and the Bronco Invitational for Bay Area races and also head to Oregon for the Charles Bowles Invitational. They will also host their own Simpson Invitational in late September.

 

- The newest member of the California Pacific Conference UC Merced will participate in eight races. They will participate in the aforementioned San Francisco Invitational, Stanford Invitational and the Bronco Invitational. They will also host the UC Merced Fall Five Miler as well as participate in the Mills Invitational and the Pacific Union Invitational.

 

- William Jessup University will participate in seven races this season. They will run in the Hornet Jamboree, the Vanguard Invitational and the Bronco Invitational. They will also run in the Mills Invitational and the Pacific Union Invitational.
