
The road to Sioux City, Iowa and the 2010 NAIA Volleyball National Tournament was announced today for the California Pacific Conference and it includes all seven of the conference schools traveling up and down the west coast and a trip to Arizona. The season gets started on August 16th with Holy Names University traveling to Ashland, Oregon to take on Southern Oregon University at 6:30 pm. The defending conference champions Menlo College Oaks gets started on August 27th against Oregon Institute of Technology in Scotts Valley, California at Redwood Auditorium on the campus of Bethany University.
The following are highlights from each of the conference school's schedules for the coming year:
- Bethany University will have five home games to start the beginning of the season, two of those matches versus Oregon Institute of Technology. The opening matches also include the newest NAIA member La Sierra University and NCAA Division III member California Institute of Technology. Bethany will partake in two tournaments - the Warrior Challenge at William Jessup University (Sept. 10th-11th) and the Tiger Fall Classic at Occidental College (Sept. 17th-18th). The Bruins open up their conference schedule September 24th versus Mills College in Scotts Valley and will conclude their season November 5th in Scotts Valley versus Simpson University.
- Holy Names University has a travel heavy schedule this season. The Hawks will travel to Oregon for a match (Southern Oregon University), southern California (Cougar Classic hosted by Azusa Pacific University) and Arizona (a neutral site match versus Wayland Baptist University, an exhibition match versus Luke Air Force Base and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University). The Hawks will host three matches - two exhibitions versus West Coast Baptist and CSU Stanislaus - and Oregon Institute of Technology. The conference schedule for the Hawks starts September 24th in a rematch of last year's conference championship match versus Menlo College in Atherton and concludes November 6th versus William Jessup University in Oakland.
- Defending champion Menlo College starts off their season with two matches versus Oregon Institute of Technology, one at Redwood Auditorium in Scotts Valley and one at Haynes Prim Pavilion in Atherton. The Oaks will take part in two tournaments - the Whitman Volleyball Tournament in Walla Walla and the Warrior Challenge in Rocklin. The Oaks start their conference season September 24th versus Holy Names University in a rematch of last year's conference championship match. The second matchup between the two schools comes on October 16th in Oakland. Their conference schedule will conclude November 6th versus Simpson University in Atherton.
- Mills College will have six non-conference matches this season - two versus La Sierra University and UC Santa Cruz and one against California Institute of Technology in Pasadena and an exhibition match versus West Coast Baptist College in Oakland. The Cyclones start their conference season September 24th in Oakland versus Bethany University and will conclude its conference schedule November 6th versus Pacific Union College in Angwin
- Pacific Union College has two non-conference matches to start off the season - a home match versus La Sierra University and an exhibition match against UC Merced in Merced. The Pioneers start their conference schedule September 21st against Simpson University in Angwin and conclude their season November 6th in Angwin versus Mills College.
- Simpson University has three tournaments to start its season. They will start at the Paul Elliott Invitational at Southern Oregon University where they will face four non-conference opponents in two days. The second tournament is at Hope International University for the NCCAA West Classic where they will play two GSAC schools and Southwestern College. The third will have the RedHawks play in the Slugs Classic in Santa Cruz where they will play three NCAA schools in two days. The RedHawks will start their conference season September 21st versus Pacific Union in Angwin and end their season November 6th versus Menlo College in Atherton.
- William Jessup University will start with a non-conference match at home against Oregon Institute of Technology and then play in three tournaments back to back to back starting in San Diego at the Seaside Invitational, then going to Seaside for the Otter Classic and then concluding at the Warrior Challenge. They will also play two NCAA Division II opponents - Academy of Art University and Dominican University - on the road. The Warriors start their conference season September 25th at Pacific Union in Angwin and will conclude their conference schedule November 6th at Holy Names University in Oakland.| Walla Walla University at | 39 |
