William Jessup University athletic director Farnum Smith has announced the hiring of Joe Kaufman as the head cross country coach for the 2010 season.

Kaufman, a native of Roseville, California, returns to William Jessup after a standout career for the Warriors. In his final season for the Warriors in 2007, Kaufman was named team captain and earned NAIA All-American honors. Before coming to Williams Jessup, he ran at Sierra College and Spokane Community College. He attended Rocklin High School, where he ran his fastest mile in 4:21.

After competing for the Warriors, Kaufman has been the director of children's ministry at Mosaic Christian Church. He also worked as a teacher for the City of Rocklin Kid's Junction. Joe has a double major in Bible and Theology and Liberal Arts from William Jessup University. He also has a minor in education and will complete his California teaching credential in May of 2011.

Kaufman said, "I am deeply honored for the privilege to coach the cross-country team at William Jessup University. I discovered a true passion for running in my time at William Jessup and look forward to helping the student-athletes find that same passion and drive to become the best they can become."
