William Jessup University golf coach Matthew Stewart announced the signing of Joey Dendary to the 2010-11 men's golf team.
Dendary, a native of Winnemucca, Nevada, joins the Warriors after a successful career at Lowry High School . At Lowry High School, Joey spent four-year on the varsity team, was a captain for three of those four years and was named three times as the Buckaroos' most valuable player. He placed in the top five individual spots during state championship play all four years of high school. In his senior year, he was named the 2010 Nevada 3A Player of the Year, while leading his team to the Nevada Interscholatic Activities Association championship. At the state championship tournament, Joey finished tied for first place before ending up being the runner up after sudden death play. Along with winning the state team championship, the team also earned the Academic Award. Most recently, he shot a 65 at Somersett Country Club during the Nevada State Match Play Championships in Reno, Nevada earlier this month. In August, Joey will be playing at the Nevada State Amateur Championships at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort.
Coach Stewart said about Dendary, "I am very excited to work with Joey. With Joey's success on and off the course, he will be a great fit in our program and campus community." Dendary said, "I decided to attend William Jessup because I like the smaller university setting and the opportunity to play in a great golf program. The coaching staff is great and I felt like it is a perfect fit for me."| Walla Walla University at | 39 |
