Pacific Union College announced the hiring of Brittany Brown as the new women's volleyball coach at Pacific Union College.
Born and raised in the Napa Valley, Brown has returned to her hometown after five years of life in Southern California. She is looking forward to returning to the familiar surroundings of her home community and gym where she carries many fond memories. She is excited about the future of Pioneers' volleyball and has lots of experience to bring from her time down south.
As a player, Brown played collegiate volleyball at Azusa Pacific University, a NAIA school outside of Los Angeles, as a starting outside hitter/libero. While at Azusa Pacific her team competed twice in the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament. She was named the NAIA player of the week her freshman year for the Cougars in 2005, and also went on to set the current record for digs in a single season with 524. Prior to her time in Azusa, Brittany played club volleyball at Empire Mizuno Volleyball club for four years. She also played four years of volleyball at Pacific Union Prep, receiving multiple tournament and team most valuable player awards as well as being named Napa County Player of the Year in 2005.
Brown made her transition into coaching in 2006 when she began master teaching at NBC volleyball camps throughout the Northwest. Since then, she has coached at Bonita High School in La Verne, California, as well as a year at Point West Mizuno Volleyball Club and a year at Temecula Volleyball Club. During her coaching years, she has spent time teaching private lessons and collaborated with world-class coaches.
Pacific Union College athletic director Robert Castillo said, "It is exciting to invite Brittany Brown back home. She will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, giving our program some much needed stability, not to mention her energy and focus, needed to return our program back where it belongs."| Walla Walla University at | 39 |
