William Jessup University coach Jessica Pistole announced the signing of Angelina Cruz and Erin Sigala to the 2010-11 softball team.

 

Cruz, a Sonora, California native, comes to William Jessup after helping the College of the Siskiyous to a 28-11 overall record and a Golden Valley Conference Championship. A first baseman/designated hitter, batted .333 and earned second team All-Conference honors. In her freshman year, she helped the Eagles to a 43-3 record. She attended Sonora Union High School, where she earned first team All-Valley Oak League honors. Cruz said, "I am choosing William Jessup because I really enjoyed my visit to the campus and I love the environment, chapel services, staff, players and coaches."

 Sigala, a Salinas, California native, will come to William Jessup after spending time at NCAA Division I CSU Northridge and NCAA Division II member CSU Monterey Bay. In high school, Erin was a dominating pitcher at Notre Dame High School. In her senior year, she led the Tigers to a 22-2 record, while pitching ten no-hitters and five perfect games with an ERA of 0.20. For her stellar year, she earned Most Valuable Player honors for the Monterey Bay League, Monterey County Co-Player of the Year, Central Coast Section softball player of the year, Small Schools State Player of the Year, All-State first team, All-Western Regional first team and Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Softball Coaches third team All-American honors. Sigala was also selected to try out for the USA softball junior national team. Sigala said, "I am excited to join the William Jessup softball family. William Jessup offers many great opportunities both on and off the field."
