William Jessup University women's soccer head coach Jamie Howard announced the signing of Arrianna Fragoso, Kasey Kellogg, Claire Reiss and Emily Fernandez to the 2010 women's soccer team.
Fragoso, a Sacramento, California native, joins the Warriors after a three-year stint at Cosumnes River College. In her first year for the Hawks, Fragoso was named offensive most valuable player while leading the team in goals (14) and assists (12). She earned First Team Big 8 Conference and Consumnes River College Most Valuable Woman Athlete honors. She returned this past season from ACL surgery to help lead the Hawks to a national ranking as she netted seven goals and recorded five assists. Before joining Consumnes River, Arrianna had a standout career as a three-year varsity star at Sheldon High School. Fragoso said, "I chose William Jessup because I love the small class sizes and how all the staff and faculty are truly there to help the students accomplish their goals. The environment at William Jessup is much different than other schools I have visited. I like the feeling of the community and believe I will be in the best environment to succeed academically and athletically."
Kellogg, a Quartz Hill, California native, joins the Warriors after an outstanding career at Quartz Hill High School. Kellogg earned First Team All-Golden League honors and was named team captain. She helped guide the Rebels to the Golden League championship with a 13-1 league record and 15-5-2 overall. In addition, Casey played six years for the Palmdale Thunder soccer club. Kellogg said, "I knew I wanted to attend a small Christian school with a close-knit, family-like atmosphere. When I visited William Jessup, I knew it was the place for me both as a student and an athlete. The coaches, the players, and the entire program are very successful and I am excited to be able to contribute to the team."
Reiss, a Simi Valley, California native, comes to William Jessup after a great career at Simi Valley High School. As a goalkeeper, she was named defensive most valuable player in both her junior and senior year. She also earned the Captain's Award and Academic Achievement Award for 2010. Reiss said, "William Jessup offers a great Christian based education that will help me grow."
Fernandez, a Clovis, California native, comes to William Jessup from Buchanan High School. As a three-year varsity player, Emily helped guide Buchanan to three Tri-Rivers League Championships with a combined record of 76-7-2. As a junior and senior, she earned Fresno Bee All-Star Second Team and Tri-Rivers Second Team honors. Emily was also awarded the coaches award her senior year demonstrating extraordinary leadership and team building qualities. Fernandez said, "I am excited to join the Warrior family."
