Mills College, a member of the California Pacific Conference since 1999, announced it will terminate its dual NAIA/NCAA membership and depart the conference following the 2010-11 season. Mills will continue to sponsor athletics as a non-scholarship member of the NCAA's Division III.

The Cyclones participate in only three of the Cal Pac's nine sports: women's cross country (2009 Cal Pac champions), soccer and volleyball.

"We're obviously disappointed with the decision," said commissioner Don Ott, "because we've greatly enjoyed the long-term partnership and participation by Mills College. The institution is a valued member of our conference and has contributed a great deal to our leadership structure and overall uniqueness. We will miss the individual relationships, the competitive camaraderie, and the dedication of their student-athletes."

The Cal Pac, which sponsors nine sports for men and women, will continue to function as an eight-member conference in 2010-11 and will have seven members in 2011-12 season, although expansion plans are moving forward.
