Simpson University women's head basketball coach Derrick Pringle Jr. announced the signing Sara Rooker of Reno, Nevada.

Rooker will join the Red Hawks as a transfer from Sierra College, where she has played for two years under the direction of Coach Brandi Murrish.  She averaged eight points, six assists and two steals per game while shooting 92 percent from the free-throw line and 48 percent from the 3-point line.

In her high school career, Rooker earned High Desert All League honors, was named captain of the McQueen High School Lancers from 2006-2008 and made the 2008 Optimist Team.

Pringle said about Rooker, "Sara is a very tough and competitive individual, which is one of the things that caught my attention. She comes from a very successful junior college program, and I hope she can bring her winning ways to our program."

Rooker said, "I chose Simpson University because I think it is a great place for me to continue my career as an athlete and as a student."
