In a vote of the  women's basketball coaches, the Holy Names Hawks, the 2007-2008 California Pacific Conference champions, received 76 out of a possible 405 points, to be selected as the coaches pick to win the 2009 crown. 

Last year, Holy Names was the Cal Pac representative in the NAIA National Tournament and fell to the #1 seed and eventual national champion Northwestern College in the first round. 

CSU East Bay was 2nd with 59 points and Dominican University rounded out the top 3 with 58 points.

The season will conclude with 2009 Cal Pac Tournament. This year, the first two rounds will be played at home sites, with the semifinals and championship taking place in Hayward, California, on the campus of CSU East Bay.
