Holy Names University, the winner of the California Pacific Conference regular season championship and the GSAC/Cal-Pac NAIA Qualifier, is ready to go for tomorrow's opening round of the 2010 NAIA National Tournament in Silvis, Illinois at TPC Deere Run.
The Hawks will be at the national tournament for the second year in row. The Hawks won or tied for first in nine events, including sweeping the entire California Pacific Conference schedule of matches. The Hawks have stayed in the top five in the national top 25 rankings throughout the season. They are led by California Pacific Conference Golfer of the Year Garrett True, who shot an average round score, in conference play, of 72.5, which led the league in scoring.
On day one of the event, the Hawks will be teeing off with Rocky Mountain College from Montana and Southwestern College from Kansas at 6:15 am PST. On day two, the Hawks will tee off with the same two schools, only that that will be teeing off at 10:39 PST. Another key to this tournament is going to be the weather. The weather at the tournament site appears favorable for the Hawks for the early morning tee time as rain is expected tonight in Silvis, but Wednesday the course will be extremely dry thus making the greens exceptionally fast.
