
William Jessup University coach Aaron Muhic announces the signing of former Natomas High School standout Marquis Robinson to the 2010 men's basketball team.
Robinson, a 6-0 point guard, joins the Warriors after a successful stint at Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon. In his two years at Warner Pacific, he helped the Knights to a 43-18 record. During his sophomore year, Robinson played in all twenty-nine games, while starting in eight of those games. He averaged eight points and two and half assists. His best game came against NCAA Division II member Hawaii Pacific University, where he finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists.
"I am excited to become a member of the William Jessup basketball program," stated Robinson. "William Jessup is a great fit for me and it is great to have the opportunity to play near my family. The program is coming off a successful year and I hope to help them to return to the national tournament."
The Sacramento, California native had a standout career at Natomas High School. In two years as a varsity starter and captain, he led Natomas to an overall record of 48-9. During his senior year the Nighthawks were 28-2 and had an undefeated conference season in the Tri-County Conference. He averaged 14 points, 6.5 assists and 3.5 steals per contest. Robinson was also named most valuable player of the Tri-County Conference.
After leading his team to the section semifinals in 2007, Robinson was chosen for the Sacramento Senior Optimist game. In that game, he led all scorers with 26 points and was named the game's most valuable player. The Sacramento Bee named Robinson to the second team All-Metro Team and was voted as the top point guard in the area.
Warriors head coach Aaron Muhic is excited about the addition of Marquis to the Warrior basketball program."Marquis is a great fit for our university and program," stated Muhic. "He has been a proven winner where ever he has played and is a proven guard at the NAIA level. He brings a competitive spirit and the experience to help us to return to the national tournament."
