Cal Pac News
Mon, Apr 5, 2010 - [Men's Golf]

With just one tournament remaining in the conference schedule, the golf teams of the California Pacific Conference are finalizing their final preparations for Thursday's Menlo Invitational, which also serves as the California Pacific Conference Championship. This year also brings a new format to the championship. In past years, the winner of the conference championship would receive an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament. This year, the Cal Pac and the Golden State Athletic Conference have combined to play a single tournament together for the right to go to the NAIA National Tournament.

Coming into Thursday's final event, Holy Names University, who has been ranked in the top five of the national rankings since the first coaches' poll in the fall, has a commanding fourteen point lead heading into the final tournament for the conference regular season championship. The Hawks have won all of their conference matches to date and have won three non-conference matches including a tie for first at the Southern Nazarene University Invitational in Casa Grande, Arizona.
