This Week: The Warriors drew Bellevue University in the first round of the NAIA Division II National Championship Tournament. The first round begins on Wednesday and the Warriors-Bruins match-up is on Thursday at 10 am (PST).

Scouting the Bruins: The Bruins clinched the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference championship with a 25-7 overall record and an 11-1 record in conference play. Junior Avery Tyler leads the Bruins in scoring at 15.7 points per game.


Scouting the Warriors: William Jessup won the California Pacific Conference championship and finished second in regular season play with a 17-13 overall record and a 9-3 record in conference play. Kadeem Kirsten leads the Warriors in scoring with 13.9 points per game

Last Time Out: This is the first meeting between the two schools.

National Appearances: William Jessup's trip to the National Tournament is their first. This is Bellevue's 11th appearance in the National Tournament. They have a combined record of 14-10 in those appearances. 


Getting To Know Bellevue University: Bellevue opened in 1966 with land purchased from International Telephone and Telegraph. In 1977, Bellevue earned full accreditation, which at 10 years in existence was the fastest in the history of Nebraska colleges. In 1994, Bellevue College became Bellevue University.

 

About The Coaches:

 

Aaron Muhic is in his 11th year of coaching at William Jessup. He has accumulated an 89-90 record at William Jessup and is 240-273 in 15 years of coaching.

 

Shane Paben is in his second year coaching Bellevue. Last year Paben was one of two rookie head coaches to win a game in the National Tournament. Prior to Bellevue Paben posted a 125-58 record at three different high schools
