The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recently announced that Nick Lusson, head women's soccer coach of the Holy Names University Hawks, has been voted as the 2009 NAIA Western Region Coach of the Year.
Lusson will receive his award at the upcoming NSCAA national coaching convention in Philadelphia in January. This award follows up a California Pacific Conference Coach of the Year award for Lusson in only his second season with the Hawks. The Hawks had a 10-9 record, winning the California Pacific Conference, which qualified for the Hawks for the NAIA National Tournament for the first time. The Hawks fell to eventual national semi-finalists Concordia University of Oregon in the NAIA National Tournament first round in Portland.
