While the William Jessup University softball team is getting ready for their inaugural season in February, William Jessup head coach Jessica Pistole has an eye on next season as well. Pistole recently announced the first signing of the 2010-2011 class with Brieanna Stone from softball powerhouse Elk Grove High School.

Stone, a second baseman and outfielder, hit .333 in her junior season. Brieanna is a two-time Golden Glove and scholar athlete award winner. During her junior season, the Thundering Herd finished the season with a 22-6 record and ranked 29th in the state. She looks forward to becoming a part of the Jessup softball family.

"After spending a day on campus talking to the players and coaches, I feel like Jessup is the right fit for me," said Stone. "The chemistry of the school made me feel comfortable. Plus, it's close to home."

Coach Pistole is excited to have Stone for the future of the softball program.

"Brieanna is going to be a great asset to our program," stated Coach Pistole. "She comes from a great program at Elk Grove and understands what it takes to be successful. Her commitment and dedication to excellence in all areas of her life will be a great fit not only on our team, but within the William Jessup campus."
