Cal Pac News
Wed, Nov 18, 2009 - [Women's Soccer]

If the Cal Pac women's soccer all-conference selections are a picture of what is to come, then the prospects are indeed bright for the league's future of the sport. A combined twenty underclassmen dominated the teams, including the co-players of the year - junior Courtney Opie from Simpson University, and sophomore Lindsey Cesena from William Jessup University.

Holy Names University won four out of the five individual honors and also placed five players on the first team of the California Pacific all-conference women's soccer squad, Commissioner Don Ott announced today.

Holy Names coach Nick Lusson won the Coach of the Year award. Holy Names' Melissa Grimmond won Defender of the Year, Sabel Maguire won Newcomer of the Year and the Hawks' Britney Machado-Potestio won Freshman of the Year.

Opie was joined on the first team by Simpson teammate Rebecca Borrelli. Cesena was joined by teammates Angela Lira and Jacque Cassell. Holy Names' Nikol Molano, Erica Udell, Sabel Maguire, Melissa Grimmond and Monique Reyes made the first team. Menlo College's Lacey Musante and Mills College's Chelsea Satterwhite were also first team picks.
