William Jessup University announced the signing of Bentley Nunes of Sutter High School. Nunes, who graduated in May, was a standout distance runner for the Huskies, who won a Division IV Championship this past spring in the 1600 meter race.
Nunes was a three time all league nominee for Sutter High, competing in the 800 meter, 1,600 meter, 3,200 meter, 3 mile, and 5K races. He was also a standout in the classroom, having been given the academic achievement award for four straight years.
Bentley is excited to join the Warriors. "William Jessup University is a Christian college that will help deepen my faith. Getting to know the team and coach throughout the past couple of years assisted my decision as well."
First year coach Parker Daniells is pleased to add the accomplished athlete to his team. "Bentley is going to be a great addition to our program next fall. It has been exciting to watch Bentley develop as a runner through high school. Bentley is a coach's dream, an athlete that is always asking for more and willing to go that extra mile to become stronger. I look forward to coaching him over the next four years as well as witness him grow physically, academically and spiritually through college."
