The California Pacific Conference announced the winners of the conference end of the year awards, handed out at the annual Athletic Directors June meeting, held this year at Embry-Riddle in Prescott, Ariz.
UC Merced's David Dunham was selected by his peers as the 2016-17 Athletic Director of the Year. The three other awards handed out were voted on by Cal Pac coaches throughout the 2016-17 academic year in each sport's all-conference balloting. At the conclusion of each season, the conference coaches cast their votes for Sportsmanship and award outstanding work in Sports Medicine and Sports Information.
This year every institution received at least one vote for team sportsmanship, but, for the second year in a row, the Cal Pac coaches honored Embry-Riddle with this year's Sportsmanship Award. Brian Murphy and Alex Ritz and their staff at La Sierra were voted the Sports Medicine Award, and UC Merced, led by Mike Steiner, was voted the Sports Information awardee for the third year in a row.
