The California Pacific Conference has named Travis Arenas of Cal Maritime and Amanda Sanchez of La Sierra as the conference Players of the Week for Feb. 6, 2017.
Arenas has been the driving force behind the Keelhaulers rise to the top of the Cal Pac standings by providing an inside presence for CSUM, which is riding a five-game win streak. The senior forward from Tuolumne, Calif., had eight points and seven boards in a win over Embry-Riddle, but came up even bigger in a showdown for first place with Benedictine-Mesa when he powered in 17 points and grabbed 20 rebounds. For the week, Arenas was 9-of-12 from the floor and 7-of 12 from the free throw line. He also had six steals, two assists, and two blocks.

Sanchez posted two double-doubles as she led the Golden Eagles to a split on their Northern California road trip. The junior forward went for 22 points and 11 rebounds in an upset win over Simpson, and then came back with 10 points and 15 rebounds in a loss less than 14 hours later at Pacific Union. For the week, the Lake Forest, Calif., native averaged 16 points and 13 rebounds.
