Bethany University's women's basketball announces the signing of Ellie Markwardt from Moutain View Christian School in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ellie officially joined the Lady Bruins in a signing at Mountain View Christian on May 8th.
Ellie is a smart, hard working ball player. During her senior year at Mountain View Christian, she led the team in scoring at 22 points per game while averaging 2.2 assists, 3.1 steals, and 5.2 rebounds per game.
Coach Mike Valenzuela, Mountian View Christian's head coach, said, "Ellie is a great kid. She is the type of player that will run through a wall for you!"
Ellie was a team leader at Mountain View as she was named MVP this season. She was also named 1st team All-Conference and 1st team All-State this season.
"I feel that we really got a great addition to Ellie. In addition to being a good basketball player, she is a great kid. She's someone I am excited to watch grow in the next 4 years here at Bethany," head coach Jason Foster said. He also hopes that Ellie is only the first of many from Mountain View. "Ellie is going to be a very valuable member of the Lady Bruins as we work towards next season and continue to build this program."
