The Holy Names University Hawks took the field for the third and final time in the NAIA National Tournament on Sunday. The game between McKendree University and Holy Names University was originally scheduled for Saturday, but due to heavy rain and thunderstorms, the NAIA moved the entire schedule back one day to Sunday. 

 

For the third day of pool play, the Hawks started Tiffany Chan while McKendree started Katie Ward. The Bearcats came out quickly scoring three runs in the top of the second and two runs in the top of the third for a 5-0 lead after three innings. The Hawks would come in the bottom of the fifth inning and score five runs to tie the game at five. In the bottom of eighth inning, Rachel Martinez drove the ball passed McKendree second baseman Cassi Brown to drive in Ebony Thorpe for the game's winning run. 

 

Chan got the milestone win for the Hawks going eight innings and giving up four hits and five runs while striking out seven and walking two Bearcats. Megan Harrison went two for three at the plate for the Hawks who finished up their stint at the National Tournament with a 1-2 record in Pool D play. For the Bearcats, Katie Ward got the loss. She went 4 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and five runs, three of which were earned, while striking out four and walking three. Natalie Rujawitz went one for two at the plate with a run scored for the Bearcats.
