The Holy Names women and Cal State East Bay men both made good on their regular season #1 seeds by capturing thrilling Cal Pac Conference tournament championship game victories. HNU and CSUEB will represent the conference in the NAIA national tournament.Holy Names, 24-8 overall and ranked #21 in the NAIA list, endured a back-and-forth battle with #2 seed Menlo College before prevailing, 75-74, at Pioneer Gym in Hayward.
CSU East Bay, 18-7 on the year, watched an 8-point lead disappear to a 52-52 tie in the final moments against #2 seed William Jessup, but Cal Pac player of the year Tauran Moore nailed a contested three-pointer with 0.8 seconds left to propel the host Pioneers to the title.
