Marymount California's Viktor Ahlgren has led his team's high-scoring offense with his foot, and La Sierra's Alonso Lara has anchored his team's stingy defense with his hands, earning both players Player of the Week recognition in California Pacific Conference men's soccer.

Marymount California recorded a big home win last week, dropping Menlo 4-2 to even its Cal Pac mark at 1-1 and 3-4 overall.  Ahlgren, a senior forward from Jonkpoing, Sweden, scored the Mariners' second goal, giving him a conference-leading 14 on the season.  He is the Cal Pac leader in all offensive categories except assists, and, on the national level, he is first in shots, second in points (33), and third in goals (14).

Lara, a junior transfer from Modesto JC, recorded six saves and one goal allowed in a 2-1 win over Menlo, LSU's only match last week.  The Golden Eagles improved to 4-1 in the Cal Pac behind another outstanding effort by the junior keeper from Turlock, Calif.  La Sierra, 4-3 overall, has received strong defensive performances from Lara to keep pace in the standings with unbeaten Marymount, Soka University of America, and Embry-Riddle.
