Head coach Laura Davis empowers women to become great runners. She has instilled in her athletes the importance of integrity, staying true to your word, honoring commitments and focusing on the good of the team. Her athletes have carried these lessons with them throughout the season, and under Davis' leadership, taken them to the next level.

The team understands that life lessons they learn in sport will help them even more in life beyond cross country. The Cyclones are bringing strength and character into the Oakland, Calif. community. As part of a larger Mills athletic event, the team helped host a Girls Sports Day, where they worked with students from the Oakland Public School District.

According to Davis this team, more than any other team she has coached, really cares about each other and about doing the best they can do. Davis says, "They hold themselves to a standard, which means not just working hard in practice and in meets, but taking care of themselves outside of practice, communicating with each other and with their coaches, and looking out for the good of the team. They are an inspiring, generous, strong group of women who don't just care about their team's success, but about improving the world around them."
